Snowy Monaro Regional Council is committed to maintaining the health of our environment and our quality of life. Council staff plan, coordinate and implement strategies to minimise adverse environmental and health impacts within the region, protecting residents, businesses and visitors.
Council is responsible for providing support services necessary to maintain public health and environmental standards. We also provide education, prevention, monitoring of health standards, regulation, and promotion of health and environmental awareness.
Council protects public health and the environment by working with the community to reduce risks associated with: vegetation and weeds, asbestos, companion animals, water quality, swimming pools, parking, camping, noise pollution, air pollution and food safety.
The Green Team
Council has developed a Green Team, which is a working group of staff from across Council departments and a community representative who meet once a month to look at ways in which Council can provide leadership on issues of environment sustainability.
