Planning Controls

Decisions about development in Snowy River Shire are influenced by State and local planning legislation, strategies, controls and policies designed to address a variety of specific planning issues.
  1. Planning Policies

    State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs) are planning controls put in place by the State Government. They deal with issues considered to have state significance.

  2. Local Environment Plan

    Local Environmental Plans (LEPs) guide planning decisions for local government areas. Through zoning and development standards, they allow councils to supervise the ways in which land is used.

  3. Development Control Plan

    A Development Control Plan (DCP) is a detailed guideline that illustrates the controls that apply to a particular type of development or in a particular area. Development Control Plans, prepared in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, are used to help achieve the objectives of a Local Environmental Plan or Regional Environmental Plan by providing specific, comprehensive requirements for certain types of development or locations eg for urban design, and heritage precincts and properties.
