Jindabyne Open Space and Recreational Land Use Strategy

Snowy River Shire Council in partnership with the Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre engaged Inspiring Place Pty Ltd to develop an Open Space and Recreational land Use Strategy for Jindabyne. The strategy is intended to bridge a perceived information gap regarding current and future open space and recreation needs within the town of Jindabyne.

The strategy also provides a context for future residential, open space and tourism planning for Jindabyne and the surrounding areas.

The broad objectives of the study were to:

  • establish a vision and recommendations to guide open space and recreational development, management and acquisition over the next 20 years in the town of Jindabyne and surrounding areas, based on the aspirations and needs of the local community;
  • develop an Open Space and Land Use Strategy (the current report), based on the vision, and outlining priorities for the enhancement of open space and recreational opportunities in Jindabyne, with consideration to the realistic management and financial capacities of Council; and
  • develop an action plan for the management, development and provision of open space and recreation assets, including the identification of opportunities for public – private or other partnerships.
