Tackle some of Australia’s challenging high country or take a leisurely drive through the countryside. The region stretches from the Brindabella Mountain range on the southern border of the ACT, across the Monaro and through to the Snowy Mountains, home to Kosciuszko National Park, as well as across to the Bombala region in the south east. The whole region offers an abundance of 4WD tours, camping and fishing spots to explore.
2WD Cars & Motorbikes
There are plenty of destinations which are accessible with 2WD vehicles (always check with National Parks before setting off on your journey) and Motorbike touring is also very popular during the warmer months, particularly along the Alpine Way and the Monaro Highway network around Bombala and Delegate.
Information can be found on the NPWS website including facilities, road closures, fees and charges within the National Park. For day trippers there are plenty of short drives that will still give you a real taste of the mountains and you can still return with plenty of time for evening activities.
Huts and Historic Sites
Some of the top must see locations include Geehi Hut, Tom Groggin, Old Geehi Hut, and Keeble’s Hut which can be accessed from Jindabyne on a single or multiple day trip.
