Commonwealth Home Support Programs are for older people who need some assistance to stay living independently in the community. These services are available to residents right across the region and can be delivered in the home, in the community or in a centre-based setting. Programs can include social support, domestic assistance, personal care, home maintenance, home modifications, meals and more. Access to these services is through the My Aged Care system. Council's Community Support staff can assist you through this process.
Council's Community Support Services may also provide services for people who are not eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Program on a brokerage / fee-for-service basis. Please contact your local office for more information.
Please see the tabs below for more information on the services provided through each of our outlets. Please note that for the time being, each office aligns with the former Council area - Snowy River Community Services in Berridale for the Snowy River region, Bombala Community Services for the Bombala region and Werri-Nina for the Cooma-Monaro region.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council's Community Support Service has been in operation since 1989 in the former Council areas and proudly supports residents to remain living in their own homes.
The team at Community Services will work with you to identify relevant and potent supports which will facilitate and support independence. We can deliver a suite of supports, identified and agreed to by you which will ensure your choices are central to decision making.
Services can be tailored to meet the needs of individuals and their carers by providing:
Domestic assistance - for all your laundry and household needs
Personal care - assisting you to stay healthy and feel good
Social Support - individual and group outings
Meals on wheels - hot fresh home cooked meals or frozen meals delivered to your home or on a social outing plus meal preparation
Home maintenance - including yard maintenance and wood stacking, keeping you safe at home
Goods and equipment purchase and hire
Integral to the social opportunities we provide are regular group activities for men and women. A program of events can be obtained by phoning our office and requesting to be added to the mailing list.
Not everyone we serve requires the same level of support. Designing your support with a coordinator will ensure you get just what you need and take into account any informal support received from family and friends.
