Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate this year's Youth Week events and April school holiday program activities.
National Youth Week (NYW) is the largest celebration of young people in Australia. Thousands of young people aged 12-24 from across Australia are involved in NYW each year.
Youth Week is a celebration of young people. It's an opportunity for young people to express their ideas and views, act on issues that affect their lives, and create and enjoy activities and events.
Youth Development Officers and young people from across the shire have supported a number of events in partnership with the community to celebrate Youth Week, including the Cooma Youth Music Awards, Youth Homelessness Matters Day, a Colour War and Pizza Feast, a HUB Sexual Health education event, an opening night showing of stage play 'Return to the Forbidden Planet', and a trip to Crackenback for young people. The Snowy Monaro Regional Youth Council arranges activities which were not only fun for young people but also create learning opportunities in careers and future employment areas in our shire.
These events allowed a wide range of young people to engage with activities that reflected their interests and skills. Stay tuned for more information on how to get involved in Youth Week in the future.
