NDIS Transition

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. The NDIS replaces the existing state system with an approach based on an entitlement to support people with disability and is a significant change to the disability support system.

The NDIS began to roll out in our region (Southern NSW) from 1 July 2016. Snowy Monaro Regional Council is a registered provider of NDIS supports, but can also provide you with information about the Scheme more broadly, including details of other registered providers in the region.

There is a large amount of information available to people who will be impacted by the NDIS roll out. The NSW Government's NDIS website has some great resources including an easy to understand video. Information on this site is available in a range of accessible formats including captions, screen reader compatibility, Easy read English, Languages Other Than English and Auslan.

For more information on the Scheme and the rollout in NSW, please see the Participant Information Pack. To check your eligibility for the NDIS, please see the Access Checklist

We will try to keep this page as up to date as possible with information from a range of reliable sources. For any further questions on the NDIS roll out in our region, please contact Council's Disability Information Officer on 6455 4000 or Community Services Officer on 6455 1934.
