L'Étape Australia

A Tour de France event is coming to Australia for the third time. L’Étape Australia by le Tour de France will be taking place on December 1 in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

There are several ways in which you can get involved with L’Étape Australia and we hope that you will support and embrace this event as it will bring many opportunities to the local region during the summer months.

Road closures
One of the biggest drawcards for the thousands of participants in this event is that it will be held on closed roads. What this also means is that there will be slight disruptions on the day of the event. Road closures and traffic restrictions will begin to come into effect throughout the course route and surrounding areas from 01:00 on Saturday the 1st of December, beginning with speed reductions (please see below map and timings).

The 2018 information pack will be available later this year! For more information click here.

More detailed information will be available closer to the event on the RMS Website https://www.livetraffic.com.au

Road closures are the responsibility of event organisers, RMS and NSW Police

For the latest information on the day of the event, 1 December 2018, please visit

Friendly and welcoming staff will set the tone and create the first impression that people will be greeted with in the region, and as such we are reaching out to the community be the front-face of the event by volunteering with us. Local knowledge is critical for events of this nature, with people travelling from all parts of the country and many parts of the globe to be part of this event. There are a wide range of roles available and each volunteer will receive several benefits for helping us in putting on this event, including being kitted out with a unique uniform, meals and tokens of appreciation."

The third edition of L’Étape Australia will take place this year through the Snowy Mountains. The L’Étape Australia Village is situated in Jindabyne and apart from being the start and finish line location where riders and supporters will be looking to get their early coffee fix and breakfast before the challenge begins, the Village will be the social and administrative heart of the event.

The Village will be home to our sponsors, partners, exhibitors and the ever-supportive local communities, with activations including the mechanical support, merchandise, purveyors of local produce, food outlets, the L’Étape Australia Information booth, local bike club activations, medical, massage, giant screen, kids play area and Tour de France museum.

The collection of race bibs will also take place from the village, which will see the 4000 participants and their supporters pass through the Village on Friday and Saturday.

The finish line, located on Kosciuszko Road, is directly in front of the village, which ensures everyone will attend the village after their ride.
