Stronger Communities Fund - Major Projects Program

The community consultation period for the proposed projects to be funded under the $14 million Stronger Communities Fund – Major Projects stream closed 27th March 2017.

Council is collating the various written feedback received.

We congratulate and thank the Snowy Monaro community for presenting a range of passionate and engaged views regarding project avenues.

The Stronger Communities Fund Assessment Panel will review project proposals in light of the community input received.

The Panel will convene in May (date TBC) to make recommendations to Council in regards to the allocation of funds.

Proposed Projects

The projects are broken into two categories:

  • General Projects – These project are relevant across the whole new Council area. These projects are generally more strategic operational projects. The value of these projects will be divided evenly across the 3 former Council areas.
  • Former Council Specific Projects – Projects specific to the former Council area.

The total value of the projects is $14million, split evenly across the 3 former areas.

Council will seek to deliver all projects by 30 June 2019, with all funding acquitted by 31 December 2019.

In addition to the list of projects to be funded, each area has a “Balance Project” (identified in blue within the Proposed Projects document and Bold Italic in the below tabs). Balance Projects are projects considered to be the ‘next priority’ to receive any surplus funding which may become available following the delivery of the other approved projects.

In the first instance, the funding will allow the project to be at a ‘shovel ready’ stage, with some contribution towards construction.
