The transformation project along Snowy River Avenue, Jindabyne commenced in 2014, with work to produce a concept design showing Council’s future vision for the avenue.
In 2016, and in preparation for construction work currently scheduled for February 2017, Council engaged contractors to install stormwater pipes from Gippsland Street through to Kalkite Street; this work was completed in June 2016.
Unfortunately, a combination of factors have led to a deterioration of the road surface along the line where stormwater pipes have been installed. As such a number of potholes have appeared, which cause significant safety concerns to residents, motorists and pedestrians.
“Council understands the frustration of residents and business owners whom have been impacted by the potholes and I can assure you that Council will address the issues along Snowy River Avenue as soon as the weather permits”, assured General Manager Joseph Vescio.
“A major upgrade to Snowy River Avenue (between Kalkite and Gippsland Street) is planned for this coming financial year. Included within these plans is the replacement of the current road surface. In addition new kerb, gutter and footpaths will be constructed as part of the first phase of this project. Therefore, any work undertaken now will only be temporary”, explained Mr Vescio.
Council will pay regular visits to Snowy River Avenue throughout winter and resolve issues as they arise. The community is encouraged to report any concerns directly to Council as they occur. Community feedback is always appreciated.
