Snowy Monaro Regional Council will commence the Jindabyne Beautification Project next week with work to start on the traffic median strip between the Town Centre carpark and Banjo Paterson Park.
Work is set to commence on Monday, May 22 on the traffic median strip on Kosciuszko Road. The project is part of the Jindabyne Action Plan with improvements to the median strip including the introduction of light and dark coloured cobblestones. The cobblestones will form a pattern depicting the mountains and rivers of the Snowy Monaro region.
Throughout the median strip upgrades, one lane on each side of Kosciuszko Road (lane adjacent to the works) will be closed to traffic. Council apologies for any inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians during the construction period.
The Jindabyne Action Plan outlined upgrades to the median strip as an important part of beautifying the town. The project was approved by the former Snowy River Shire Council (SRSC).With the merger of SRSC last year, the project was progressed and final design approval provided by the Local Representative Committee which comprises of a number of former SRSC Councillors.
Council anticipates completing works to the media strip by June 19, provided there are no weather interruptions. All work will cease during the June long weekend.
