Tickets are selling fast for what’s set to be one of the biggest events of 2018. Hundreds of motoring enthusiasts have snapped up tickets for Land Rover’s 70th anniversary celebrations in Cooma next Easter.

Land Rover lovers from across the country have been quick to secure their place at the four-day event with 500 tickets sold in just 72-hours. The Easter extravaganza will celebrate Land Rover’s connection to the region through the Snowy Mountains Scheme.

A bumper event program is in place to welcome thousands of visitors to the Snowy Monaro. Hundreds of Land Rovers will roll into Cooma to take part in swap meets, vehicle displays and day trips throughout the region.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Manager of Tourism and Events, Donna Smith, is encouraging people to register quickly to avoid missing out on this exciting event.

“There has been an outstanding response to ticket sales in only a few days,” Ms Smith said.

“People from all over the country will come to the region to celebrate Land Rover’s 70th anniversary. Land Rover enthusiasts love anything to do with Land Rovers.

“All up there is 2,500 places available. This includes bookings for the camping site and for the official gala dinner held on the last night.”

Ms Smith said the event’s organising committee has put together a bumper line-up of events with the highlight being a grand parade of Land Rovers along Sharp Street, Cooma.

“One of the standouts events is the street parade of 900 Land Rovers along Cooma’s main street. People will line the streets to look at these impressive vehicles, before the Land Rovers head to the Cooma Showgrounds for display.”

Snowy Monaro Regional Council General Manager, Joseph Vescio, expects the event to provide a significant boost to the regional economy.

“Events of the magnitude are a fantastic way of not only showcasing the Snowy Monaro region but providing an injection into the local economy,” Mr Vescio said.

“When thousands of people come to the region for an event like this, they all stay multiple nights and spend money in our local businesses. We are fortunate to have the capacity to host large-scale events such as the Land Rover 70th anniversary.”
