Snowy Monaro Regional Council is addressing accessibility issues in Jindabyne’s CBD with a temporary footpath being constructed to provide all-abilities access to Nuggets Crossing businesses on Snowy River Avenue.
Council is in the process of establishing temporary arrangements that will allow people with a disability, access to Nuggets Crossing businesses from Snowy River Avenue.
All-abilities access from Snowy River Avenue to the relevant businesses will be in place by Thursday, October 26.
Council would like to apologise to those community members who have had difficulty or been unable to access Nuggets Crossing businesses due to the Snowy River Avenue upgrades.
Council is working on revitalising Jindabyne’s CBD through improvements to Snowy River Avenue. The project, once completed, will increase the community’s access to the Nuggets Crossing and CBD precinct.
Work was halted through winter at the request from business owners, and with a short timeframe before the next influx of tourists, Council is committed to undertaking the work as quickly as possible.
The temporary access arrangements are expected to be in place for a further six to eight weeks.
The current project in Snowy River Avenue will be undertaken in stages with the work on the Nuggets Crossing side being Stage 1 of the Snowy River Avenue Project. Work will follow on the Lake View Plaza side as Stage 2 and upgrades to the road surface will occur as Stage 3.
