International Women’s Day will be celebrated in the Snowy Monaro with women from all walks of life being recognised for their ongoing contributions to the region.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council will partner with the Delegate Progress Association (DPA) on Tuesday 13 March to deliver an entertaining day featuring guest speakers, information stalls and the presentation of the DPA’s International Women’s Day awards.

Nominations are now open with locals encouraged to put names forward for the following categories: Business Woman of the Year, Community Member/Volunteer of the Year, Employee of the Year, and Young Woman of the Year (25 years and under).

Nomination forms can be picked up from Council offices, the Platypus Country Visitor Information Centre, Delegate RTCT Centre, Tubbut Neighbourhood Centre, link below.

Email your nominations to, or drop them into a Council office.

The celebrations will start at 10.30am at the School of Arts Hall in Delegate. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #pressforprogress, emphasising the ongoing pay gap between men and women.

Council is also seeking expressions of interest for stallholders. Interested parties should contact Community Development ATTN: IWD Stalls at or on 1300 345 345 (ask for a Community Development Planner).
