Snowy Mountains showcased to national audience

The Snowy Mountains will shine on Sunday when the popular breakfast tv program, Weekend Sunrise broadcast their weather reports live from Lake Crackenback.

The stunning natural attractions and tourism experiences of the Snowy Mountains will be beamed into hundreds of thousands of households across Australia on Sunday when Weekend Sunrise weather is broadcast live from the Snowy Mountains.

Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the broadcast was secured by the NSW
Government’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, as part of the
$100,000 Tourism Snowy Mountains co-operative marketing campaign announced
in January. The NSW Government funding from Destination NSW’s Regional
Tourism Fund will help drive overnight visitation to the Snowy Mountains outside the
peak holiday period.

“During the warmer months, our region becomes an adventure playground and I am
delighted that the Snowy Mountains is benefiting from the Regional Tourism Fund,”
Mr Barilaro said.

“This funding allows Tourism Snowy Mountains to deliver a cooperative destination
marketing campaign that puts our region front and centre.

“Growing tourism in the Snowy Mountains is a key priority for the NSW Government,
and the exposure of the region to the national Weekend Sunrise audience is
invaluable for local businesses and the tourism industry.

“Weekend Sunrise will showcase the Snowy Mountains as a desirable summer and
autumn holiday destination, giving viewers a taste of some of the natural beauty and
the nature-based water and land activities the region has to offer, including mountain
biking Australia’s longest gravity trails, fishing in pristine lakes and streams, horse
riding, kayaking, dining on Snowy Mountains’ trout and enjoying the spectacular
views.

“The show will ensure we not only showcase this beautiful region but encourage
more people to visit - putting more heads on beds, diners in our restaurants,
shoppers in our boutiques and visitors on our tours,” Mr Barilaro said.

Weekend Sunrise weather with James Tobin will be broadcast live from Lake
Crackenback Resort on Sunday 11 February.

Last summer, the Snowy Mountains welcomed 147,000 domestic overnight visitors
who spent $138 million in the region, up 52 per cent from the previous year.
