Barilaro announces over $735,000 for Bombala projects

Member for Monaro John Barilaro has visited Bombala’s Platypus Reserve and Racecourse to announce significant upgrades made possible by the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, which is granting $735,974 to the two projects.

This significant funding is divided between Bombala’s Racecourse ($517,472) and Platypus Reserve ($218,502).

“The Bombala community has been calling out for upgrades to these facilities and I’m thrilled to be delivering the money that will allow for them to be carried out,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Bombala has a rich and beautiful wildlife area at the Bombala Platypus Reserve, and this large injection of funding will allow the construction of a safer entrance road and paths to cater for disabled access, as well as the placement of picnic tables, contributing to a greater amenity for the area.

“Upgrades to the Bombala Racecourse will rejuvenate the precinct, with plans including a broad scope of work such as the construction of a new amenities building and the upgrade of the caretaker facilities.

The Stronger Country Communities fund is one of the six funds that make up the NSW Government’s $1.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is designed to improve economic growth and productivity through investment in regional communities.

“The NSW Liberals and Nationals Government is dedicated to supporting our towns and our infrastructure,” Mr Barilaro said.

“I am excited for work to begin on these large projects, which is an incredible investment in local infrastructure that is sure to improve the lives of residents and enhance the attractiveness of our region.

“The Stronger Country Communities Fund is a once-in-a-generation investment and it is clear that Bombala is getting its fair share.” Mr Barilaro said.
