Snowy Monaro Regional Council is set to roll out new 360L recycling bins to Cooma residents receiving a kerbside collection service.
The new recycling bins will be distributed throughout September with the 360L bins replacing the current 140/240L bins and black crates.
In July 2017, Council introduced a comingled recycling collection service in Cooma. In further efforts to help residents recycle more effectively, the 360L bins will provide an easier and more convenient way of disposing of all recyclables. Residents will no longer have to separate paper and cardboard from other recyclables.
Once the new bins are delivered to properties, the black crates will no longer be serviced. Residents have the option of retaining their black crate for personal use, such as gardening or other household purposes.
Information packages will be provided to residents receiving a new 360L bin.
Elderly residents, those with steep driveways and residents who believe the new bin will be too large to manage, have the option to lodge a request to retain their 140/240L bin. Residents can also request to swap their 140L bin for a 240L bin, in lieu of the new 360L bin.
Request forms will be included in the information packages distributed.
