Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor John Rooney has congratulated the Nimmitabel Country Women’s Association on their 90th birthday and the completion of their renovated CWA Rooms, at a celebration earlier today.
Mayor Rooney joined CWA members, Member of the Legislative Council Bronnie Taylor, and the community, for the official opening of the renovated rooms in Nimmitabel.
Council partnered with the Nimmitabel CWA through round 2 of the Snowy Monaro Community Grants with $17,303 helping the branch complete much-needed safety upgrades to their rooms.
“I’m pleased Council has been able to support the Nimmitabel CWA in seeing these renovations come to fruition,” Mayor Rooney said.
“On behalf of the Snowy Monaro community, I’d like to congratulate the Nimmitabel CWA on their renovations and wish them a happy 90th birthday.”
The renovations are the first phase in a series of planned upgrades for the CWA Rooms. Renovations include improvements to the electrical and plumbing systems, new carpet, air conditioning installation, and a revamped kitchen.
“The Nimmitabel branch of the CWA is highly respected throughout our region. Their ongoing contribution to the social fabric of Nimmitabel is appreciated by the community,” Mayor Rooney said.
Through the Snowy Monaro Community Grants, $1 million has been distributed to community organisations in the Snowy Monaro region. This funding is part of the NSW Government’s $15 million Stronger Communities Fund.
