Snowy Monaro Regional Council would like to congratulate all the buskers who performed in the Australian National Busking Championships.

Held over two days, for the first time, the busking championships attracted a record number of buskers. On Saturday, buskers competed in the Cooma regional finals with the winners in each age category progressing through to the national grand final concert on Sunday.

Winners from each of the seven regional busking championships also competed in the finals concert with Queensland band the Haystack Mountain Hermits declared the overall winners.

“This is a wonderful event and it was fantastic to see so many buskers coming to Cooma for the championships,” Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor, John Rooney, said.

“The crowds loved watching the buskers.

“I’m pleased Council was able to support the event, in particular, the performers in the secondary age category.”

Council is proud to sponsor the busking championships and donated prizes in the following categories:

Cooma Regional Busking Championships
• Secondary Age – First prize $500: Kesha Oayda

National Busking Grand Final
• Open age – Third prize $500: Danny Horne
