Snowy Monaro Regional Council will be entering an exciting new chapter with the announcement of a new General Manager, Peter Bascomb.
Recruitment for a new General Manager started in August this year following Joseph Vescio announcing his departure as the General Manager.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor John Rooney said the announcement of the new General Manager comes at the end of a rigorous recruitment process.
"I was impressed by the calibre of candidates for the role and I thank them for their applications. The number and quality of candidates shows the high regard that Snowy Monaro Regional Council is held by Local Government professionals and the confidence they have in our future. After thorough and thoughtful deliberation, I am confident that we have found the most suitable candidate to take both Council and our Region into the future" Mayor Rooney said.
Mr Bascomb is a seasoned General Manager with twenty three years’ experience in local government, including a number of diverse and complex Councils throughout New South Wales and Victoria.
"Our region is on the cusp of transformative change and getting the best candidate to bring our staff and the community on the journey into our future was the main focus for the recruitment panel," Mayor Rooney continued.
"Peter’s overall capabilities and demonstrated leadership experience led the panel to select him from the exceptional candidate pool.
"In particular, his previous experience dealing with growth, transformative change and project delivery mean Peter has the skills and expertise to get the balance right for our Region," Mayor Rooney said.
"I am passionate about Snowy Monaro Regional Council and excited about what Council has achieved so far, and where the Region is heading.
"Snowy Monaro has so much potential and I am honoured to be chosen to lead the organisation through the coming years," Mr Bascomb continued.
"I welcome Mr Bascomb into our ranks and look forward to working with him to deliver a better future for our Region" Mayor Rooney concluded.
