“We want to hear about how we can create a fantastic place all year round for the Jindabyne community and the town’s many visitors,” Ms Shearer said.

“We want to see a Jindabyne that copes with future growth and thrives on it for decades to come. We are early in the process of developing the Go Jindabyne Masterplan but want to hear from the community as soon as possible.”

In addition to the public sessions, workshops and briefings will be held for Jindabyne’s business community, high school students and youth representatives, Snowy Monaro Regional Councillors and staff and other government stakeholders.

The community will also be able to drop in and talk with members of the Go Jindabyne Masterplan team who will be available at Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre throughout the week.

The Go Jindabyne Masterplan will be key to implementing Direction 3 of the South East and Tablelands Regional Plan 2036 - the Government’s 20-year blueprint to develop the Snowy Mountains into Australia’s premier year-round alpine destination.

It will consider all aspects of Jindabyne, including tourism, jobs, services, accommodation, housing, roads, local products and all factors that contribute to the distinct local character of the town.

NSW Chief Planner, Gary White, will also be in town to take part in the community consultation.

“Jindabyne needs a carefully considered plan to develop in a way that realises its potential,” Mr White said.

“Kosciusko National Park, ski resorts and the iconic Snowy River are part of NSW’s unique alpine story. Jindabyne has a significant role to play in harnessing the environmental, economic and social opportunities that exist.

”The Masterplan will set out a clear vision for the region as a year-round destination for skiing, mountain biking, bushwalking, horse riding, fishing, kayaking, cultural and educational tourism.”
All feedback from the community consultation will be considered in the development of a draft Go Jindabyne Masterplan that will be released for the community to have its say on before mid-2019.

The Department of Planning and Environment wants to hear from you. Help us create a Jindabyne that not only copes with future growth but thrives on it. A Masterplan will be developed to consider all aspects of Jindabyne – from tourism to jobs, housing to roads.
