Construction commences on Dalgety Showground pavilion upgrade

Work has started on the latest project to be delivered for the Dalgety community with construction now underway to upgrade the showground pavilion.

Dalgety is widely regarded as one of the most picturesque settings in regional NSW. The Dalgety Showground will become more user-friendly with the pavilion revamp to include a new roof, kitchen, and bathrooms accessible for people with a disability.

The pavilion is the main facility at the showground precinct, welcoming thousands through its doors each Dalgety Show.

President of the Dalgety Show committee, Julie Hedger, said the organisation has welcomed the start of construction.

“We’d like to thank Mark Wiggins (project manager) and council for this upgrade, we are so looking forward to using the new pavilion at our 2021 show,” Ms Hedger said.

“It will make a huge difference to not only our show, but the whole community. Other groups like the cricket club and horse events often use the showgrounds, so this new facility
will be appreciated by everyone in the community.”

Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer said he is pleased to see construction for this exciting project has commenced.

“Thank you to the community of Dalgety, the Dalgety Show committee and all user-groups for their input and support for this project. It has been very helpful and I look forward to the project’s completion,” Mayor Beer said.

“The Dalgety Showground is located in wonderful spot, and if it’s not already, once the pavilion is complete the showground will be one of the best in regional Australia.”

The project is expected to be completed with the next 16-weeks.

The pavilion upgrade is being delivered through the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund and is one of a number of projects that have improved the Dalgety Showground precinct.

This family-friendly area has been furthered enhanced through the construction of a new playground. Families have been enjoying the new slide and swing set with the playground funded through the Stronger Communities Fund (SCF).

Another SCF project proving popular on show day is the sheep pavilion. Constructed after a pine tree demolished the original structure, the new pavilion is home to the Dalgety Show’s sheep judging competitions.
