A disaster and emergency preparedness presentation will be held in Bombala this month for Snowy Monaro seniors.
The three-hour session will provide seniors with practical steps to better equip themselves to respond in emergencies such as bushfires, floods and snowstorms.
Older regional and rural residents can be particularly vulnerable to disasters and emergencies, but having a plan and being well-prepared can make all the difference. The ‘Get Ready’ presentation brings together representatives from Red Cross, Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police, SES, and Snowy Monaro Regional Council Support Services – all ready to answer community questions.
“It’s crucially important to prepare for disasters and emergencies, especially when living rurally and regionally,” said Mayor Peter Beer, Snowy Monaro Regional Council.
“The session will give our senior residents the practical advice they need to respond to fire, flood, snowstorms, or whatever else may come our way. Being prepared can make all the difference, so if you’re one of our older residents – RSVP today.”
