1. Overview

We offer and supports a variety of waste education events and campaigns, with the main goal to inform and educate the community in reducing waste going to landfill and living more sustainable.

Our Resource and Waste Education team offer a range of activities and learning strategies to improve awareness and engagement on local sustainability issues and waste diversion.

Learning about waste diversion from any age helps reinforce sustainable behaviours and the younger generation in particular can take home the information and get their whole household involved.

If you are a business, community group or school that would like to host an information session based on recycling, home composting, worm farming, waste diversion/ waste avoidance, please contact Council’s Education team to arrange an education presentation.

Topics and programs

  • Beyond the Bin – focus on recycling beyond the 3 bin collection system. For example education on Community Recycling Centres and Ewaste
  • Composting and Worm Farming – focus on sustainable living in the home
  • Recycle Right – focus on the 6 simple steps to Recycle Right
  • 5Rs of Zero Waste – focus on Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot and how we can follow the 5Rs in everyday living.
