Snowy Monaro Regional Council in partnership with Upper Snowy Landcare Network is excited to present the final four events in our Sustainable Lands Project. This project is supported by the Department of Agriculture Water and the Environment through funding from the Australian Governments National Landcare Program.

This coach tour to Mulloon will be a fabulous day. Food and beverages will be supplied.

Please bring some warm clothes and wet weather gear just in case. Bring some drinking water for the ride but no hot foods/drinks on the coach.

The coach will be available to board at 7.50 a.m. at the bus shelter on Bombala St Cooma. It will depart at 8.00 a.m. sharp.

Visit the Mulloon Institute’s Home Farm to learn their approach to restoring and rehydrating landscapes, using robust scientific methods and well-designed natural structures.

Throughout your visit, we will introduce you to a range of practices that can restore water cycle function and improve productivity and ecological outcomes. This visit can serve as an exciting launchpad for community-driven change.

At Mulloon Creek Natural Farms we base our decisions on 'conscious based thinking' which involves flexibility in our approach and awareness of what's happening in the landscape and the biology that we influence.

We use Allan Savory's holistic planned grazing which tests all decisions against an overarching vision. This enables us to incorporate organic practices and biodynamic principles to improve the productive capacity of the land and the people and communities it supports.

The key to driving all of these processes and inputs is water. Using natural sequence farming techniques we are restoring multiple series of highly absorbent mini wetlands known as ‘chains of ponds’ that capture and store water in the landscape.

Understanding and observing the complex processes in nature enables us to listen to the landscape when deciding where and what type of production enterprises are best. Our current animal enterprises include poultry (eggs) and beef and we adapt these farming practices to suit the landscape and find the best way to convert nature's outputs into production.

Registration will close 3 days prior to each event date or as places are filled.
