Snowy Monaro Regional Council is excited to announce our support of National Volunteer Week (NVW) 2022, Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering between Monday 16 and Sunday 22 May 2022.

The theme for 2022 is Better Together, which is particularly fitting for a rural and regional area like ours. Volunteers contribute an incredible amount of time and resources to bring services, support and even maintenance of our public spaces – all for no compensation but all in the spirit of community.

The Snowy Monaro would be so much less without their tireless efforts and commitment to our region and our community. National Volunteer Week is the time for us all to show our gratitude and appreciation for the work our volunteers do.

Volunteer community drivers in our region played a vital role during COVID-19 in transporting some of our most vulnerable community members to medical appointments in the ACT. This was a massive undertaking, with volunteers sacrificing days and weekends to navigate a complicated bureaucratic environment to make sure our community got the care it needs.

Our drivers continue to provide an enormously important service, and we would like to thank them and all of our volunteers for all that they have done through these difficult few years.

For more information on National Volunteer Week and to find out more about how you can show your appreciation, please visit www.volunteeringaustralia.org/get-involved/nvw today.
