Council Pounds
Council has impounding facilities in Berridale, Bombala and Cooma.
If you have lost a companion animal (dog or cat), or if you have received correspondence from Council to let you know we have your companion animal, please phone 1300 345 345 to speak with one of our rangers.
What you need to do before coming to collect your pet from the pound
- Phone our rangers to discuss the impounding fees. This may include microchipping, registration, and release fees
- The fees must be paid in full before your animal can be released, you can complete payment by attending any of our office locations
- You will be asked to bring proof of ownership and provide identification; this may require you to complete a statutory declaration
- Once payment and all paperwork is complete, you will need to arrange an appointment with a ranger during Council business hours
In some instances, you may receive penalty infringement notices for breaches of NSW legislation. The circumstances surrounding the seizure of the animal(s) and the history of the matter will ultimately dictate if additional penalties are warranted.
