The words

Council is looking for volunteers to join our new disability advisory committee. We are accepting applications until Monday 24 November 2025, with seven positions to fill.

We’re looking for applications from people with lived experience of disability and their carers for five of the spots. Disability services providers are invited to apply for one of two provider positions.

Visit https://qrco.de/s355 to download the application form and complete your application today. Paper application forms are available from Council’s offices in Berridale, Bombala, Cooma and Jindabyne.

To submit your completed application:

  • Email council@smrc.nsw.gov.au
  • Mail to PO Box 714, Cooma NSW 2630
  • Return in-person to any of Council’s offices across the region

What the committee does

Committee members will help Council make the Snowy Monaro more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

The committee has four main jobs:

  1. Advising Council about disability inclusion and accessibility
  2. Helping Council deliver its Disability Inclusion Action Plan
  3. Advocate for people with disability and raise awareness about the issues they face
  4. Helping the Snowy Monaro community celebrate diversity and inclusion

How Council will decide who to appoint

Council will work to ensure that committee membership reflects the full and diverse range of disability that exists within our community. Membership appointments will fairly and proportionately represent the different areas within our region, as well as the different kinds of people who live here.
