May progress update: Jindabyne Shared Trail

It’s been another month of significant progress on the Jindabyne Shared Trail project around East Jindabyne and Tyrolean Village, and Council is excited to share how things are tracking as final project completion approaches.

Recently completed

  • Trail upgrades — Knights in Shining Armour, Golden Oldie, and new Mill Creek Trail carpark link

  • New trails — New Trails 20, 21, and 24

  • Bridges and platforms — Bridges between Tyrolean Village and East Jindabyne water reservoir fully complete, footings and all vertical structural members for the seven other bridges also complete, with platform/deck installation underway

  • Repairs — Mill Creek stormwater culvert

In progress

  • Just started — Trail upgrade works on Wrap-a-Go-Go, and New Trail 23

  • Nearly complete — Orbital and Bunty’s North both 99% complete

  • Ongoing — New Rainbow Beach/East Jindabyne Boat Ramp connector trail, new bridge approaches and abutments, and remaining bridge works

Coming up

  • Start of work on New Trail 26 and upgrades to Two Hips Trail

  • Wednesday 27 May 2026 — Helicopter transport of prefabricated bridge segments, weather permitting, with no access during helicopter operations

For the safety of the public and workers on site, Council asks trail users to please respect all trail and worksite closures.

The local small business completing these works continues to foot the bill for repeated and persistent trespassing and the damage it causes to works in progress.

Constant repairs continue to push back the completion date for the project.

These construction sites are closed for a reason: they’re dangerous. Serious personal injury and bike damage can result from riding closed and under-construction trails, with no public liability insurance coverage for trespassers.

Please do the right thing for our local contractor, our community, and for your own safety and wellbeing. Stay off closed trails and away from all active construction areas throughout the trail network. Penalties may apply.
