The month of May will see Snowy Monaro Regional Council hosting a packed calendar of road safety events and workshops online and across the region. With sessions for seniors, learners and their supervisors, as well as motorcyclists – there’s something for almost every road user coming up next month.

Council’s online Safer Learner Driver Workshops kick-off with an initial session on Tuesday 3 May 2022 from 4pm to 6pm. Learner drivers and their supervisors (mum, dad, cousin, uncle, mate – whoever’s helping out) re invited to attend a free online road safety workshop.

With two sessions to choose from, the workshop will offer advice and safety tips to help learner drivers make safer choices and assist supervisors to provide the best possible learning environment for student drivers.

Returning for 2022 are our ever-popular On the Road 65plus Workshops. The first session is Thursday 5 May 2022 at Cooma Library from 9.30am to 11.30am, followed by Bombala Community Centre on Tuesday 17 May 2022 from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Coffee with a Cop returns Saturday 14 May 2022 at Kiandra Courthouse, bringing road users and police together to have conversations about road safety. The initiative focuses primarily on promoting safe practices among motorcyclists on our mountain roads, hosted jointly with Snowy Valleys Council, NSW Police, Motorcycle Council of NSW and Snowy Hydro.

The second instalment of our Coffee with a Cop sessions last weekend at Yarrangobilly Campground was a great success, with over 100 road users stopping in to chat with local officers and representatives.

Finally, covering off parents and the youngest demographic is our free voucher program for child restraint checks. Strictly limited numbers will be available from our website, going live Monday 16 May 2022. First in best dressed.
