Snowy Monaro Regional Council launches survey to shape events strategy

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is launching a survey to help develop a new Events Strategy, teaming up with Bega Valley Shire Council for this exciting project – funded by the NSW Government's Business Case and Strategy Development Fund.

The focus of the strategy is on larger events attracting at least 500 people, with the goal of boosting the local economy and tourism, by making events in our wider region even better. Council wants to support existing major events, and attract more medium to large-scale events to the area.

We want to hear from everyone – residents, businesses, community groups, and visitors – about what they think of the current events in our region, and what kind of events they'd like to see more of. It's a chance to share your ideas and suggestions too!

The Snowy Monaro region already has a whole host of cultural happenings, sports events, and community gatherings. This strategy will help make our region’s event calendar even better, with a greater number of quality events to suit all interests.

The strategy will also look at what infrastructure is needed to support different events across the region, with an eye to improving the planning process. These efforts will make the administrative side of event planning easier for event organisers and Council staff, leading to lower costs and faster turnaround times for everyone involved.

Alongside the strategy, this inter-Council collaborative effort will create a Regional Event Activation Prospectus. This document will show off our region and its fantastic facilities to potential event hosts, with the intention of increasing the number of events in our region and all the economic and social benefits they bring with them.
