Join The Great Spring Clean Up in the Snowy Monaro
Published on 16 August 2024
Snowy Monaro residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help tidy up our beautiful region before summer arrives, with Council proud to support Clean Up Australia's The Great Spring Clean Up campaign this September.
The Great Spring Clean Up is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and make a difference. We're lucky to live in such a stunning part of the world, and taking part in the The Great Spring Clean Up is a great way for all of us to do our bit to keep the Snowy Monaro beautiful.
To get involved, simply visit the Clean Up Australia website at www.cleanup.org.au and register your clean-up event. Clean Up Australia will provide a free kit with bags, gloves and other helpful gear to get you started.
Local residents and businesses who register their clean-up on the Clean Up Australia website can dispose of collected rubbish and recycling for free at Council's landfills and transfer stations across the region.
There are some limitations to what you can drop-off at transfer stations. Contact Council on 1300 345 345 or email us at council@snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au to find out more about what’s accepted at each of our participating disposal sites.
Whether you gather a group of mates, your family, or go solo, every effort counts in keeping our region clean and helping to protect our environment.
The Great Spring Clean Up runs throughout September, and you’re free to choose any day across the month hold your event.
Remember to follow all safety guidelines provided by Clean Up Australia when conducting your clean-up activities.
Rather than risk your safety or the safety of other clean up participants, you can easily report any bulky or dangerous items that have been dumped in public areas through the Snap Send Solve app, or by calling us directly on 1300 345 345.
Illegally dumped rubbish found on roadsides or in other unsafe areas, including bulky or hazardous items, can also be reported directly to the NSW Environment Protection Authority with RID Online, or by calling 131 555.
