Councillors were in Cooma on Wednesday 29 October 2025 for the second session of Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s October Ordinary Council Meeting. For the information of our community, Council has prepared the following summary of the main decisions from the day.

Main decisions

  1. Councillors requested a report on improving Council’s customer satisfaction rating, including a potential revision of Council’s Customer Service Charter.

  2. Council will ask the community for their opinion on investigating a Council demerger through the Community Satisfaction Survey. The question will note the estimated cost of approximately $500,000 for the preparation of a demerger business case.

  3. Council will not proceed with the expression of interest received for Snowy River Hostel. Instead, Council will invite interested residents to form a community-led working group. This group will develop a new proposal for repurposing the site, to be presented to Council by Sunday 31 May 2026.
