Councillors re-elect Deputy Mayor Tricia Hopkins at October meeting

Incumbent Snowy Monaro Deputy Mayor Tricia Hopkins has been re-elected for a second 12-month term at the October Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday 16 October 2025 in Cooma.
Two nominations were received for the deputy mayoral election, which was conducted by an ordinary ballot process. The second nominee was Councillor Tanya Higgins.
‘I am looking forward to another year supporting Mayor Chris Hanna,’ said Deputy Mayor Tricia Hopkins.
‘I will continue to work with all councillors to ensure that we serve our community by providing good governance and leadership for the Snowy Monaro.’
The Deputy Mayor position and its officeholder fill-in for the Mayor during absences.
‘I want to congratulate Cr Hopkins on her re-election. I look forward to continuing to work with her over the next 12 months,’ said Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Chris Hanna.

Council will meet again for the second session of the October Ordinary Council Meeting at 2pm on Wednesday 29 October 2025 in Cooma.
