Council's Youth Development Officers

Council employs two Youth Development Officers; one based in Cooma at The Hub Youth Centre, Vale St and one based in Jindabyne at the Council offices in Razorback Plaza, Gippsland St.

Council's YDOs work in partnership with young people, local services, schools and the YMCA’s Youth Projects to develop and deliver opportunities for young people. The YDOs work predominantly with young people aged 12 – 17, and 18 – 24 for specifically funded initiatives such as Youth Week.

The YDOs can provide support, referral & advocacy for young people. They plan and run activities with young people including school holiday programs, arts initiatives, health promotion activities, National Youth Week, and the Snowy Youth Council. They also work with and in local schools to deliver programs as required. The YDOs support and encourage young people to take leadership roles in the community, and assist Council in decision making processes involving young people.

Council values young people's energy and ideas, and is keen to collaborate with young people to encourage participation and strengthen our communities. Both YDOs are happy to be contacted by young people who have ideas for a project or event.
